Northwest Connecticut Land Conservancy

5 Maple Street

Founded in 1965, Northwest Connecticut Land Conservancy (NCLC) is a nonprofit land trust dedicated to protecting the landscapes that define the region. As the largest land trust in the state, NCLC safeguards a growing network of natural and working lands across Litchfield and northern Fairfield Counties.

NCLC cares for more than 30 public nature preserves, providing free access to miles of trails and places to explore a forever-protected landscape of essential forests, farmland, and waterways. These lands allow people to connect with the outdoors while sustaining vibrant communities—supporting local agriculture, protecting clean drinking water, and preserving wildlife habitat.

NCLC also provides educational programs for children and families and serves as a regional partner and resource—collaborating with fellow land trusts, municipalities, and landowners to advance conservation efforts and strengthen the impact of land protection across the region. Through this work, NCLC helps ensure the region’s natural beauty and rural character endure for generations to come.
